UCAT deciles

The detail

How to read your score

Add your subtest scores, then check which decile boundary you clear.

VR 640 + DM 670 + QR 710 = 2020: above the 6th decile boundary of 1980, placing you in the top 40% for 2026.

The maximum is 2700, from three 900s. No medical school requires it.

What your decile means for your application

Your decile helps you build a school list. Schools use UCAT differently: thresholds, ranking, weighting alongside grades, or little emphasis.

Check each school’s requirements. A decile is a starting point, not an application verdict. It shows a broad position within the cohort, rather than an exact percentile.

The 2026 cohort in full

Final 2026 results: 42,359 tests to 24 September, mean 1918.

Subtest means: VR 602, DM 640, QR 675. VR’s mean is lowest: 602 is average, not bad.

Abstract Reasoning was removed in 2025, so 2024-and-earlier scores aren’t comparable. Boundaries shift yearly: the final 2025 mean was 1891 across 41,354 tests.

How the final 2026 numbers differ from the early ones

2026 testing closed on 24 September 2026 and the figures here are final.

The preliminary figures (20,794 tests to 13 September) showed a mean of 1970. The final mean is 1918 — 52 points lower.

Every decile boundary came down with it: the 9th from 2300 to 2250, the 4th from 1910 to 1850. If you checked your decile here before 30 September, check it again.

Common questions

What score is the 90th percentile in the UCAT?

The 90th percentile is the 9th decile. In 2026 that is a total of 2250; in 2025 it was 2220.

Is there an official raw-to-scaled converter?

No. UCAT publishes no conversion table and the scaling changes each version, so any raw estimate (including this tool’s) is approximate.

How many raw marks are in each subtest?

VR: 44 (1 mark each). QR: 36 (1 mark each). DM: 35 questions, but multi-statement items carry up to 2 marks, so the total varies — copy it from your mock.
